THE CORPS OF COMMISSIONAIRES, NIGERIAN LEGION, OYO STATE COMMAND) We are delighted to introduce to you, our organization, the Corps of Nigeria Commissionaire (COC) of the Nigerian Legion, as well as our activities .
The COC is an Associate membership (part B) arm of the Nigerian Legion which was established by Act of Parliament of 1964 amended by the Nigerian Legion Interim Management Decree 25 of 1977.
It was further amended by the Nigerian Legion Decree No. 37 of 1988, with Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette No. 64 Vol. 75 dated 30th September, 1988 as amended. The COC is under the Ministry of Defence, and has been established in all the states of the Federation.
The Corps of Nigeria Commissionaire was officially established in Oyo State in 2012, in Ibadan the state capital, with the recruitment of an initial five (5) officers. The second recruitment of additional of forty-five (45) officers was conducted in 2013, still in Ibadan.
In October 2014, we spread out of Ibadan and established a UNIT at Saki. Since then more UNITs and units have been established in the towns of Oyo, Ogbomoso, Igboho, Iseyin and Tede. Presently, COC is in every Local Government Area in the state.
